Dr. David Gordon, then in Sudbury Canada, performed an amazing orthopaedic surgery on my son (L hemiplegia meningomyelocele) following which Daniel went from a limping invalid to a national class track athlete, winning gold and silver medals for 100 and 200 metres Mens track events at the Canadian Special Olympic Games in 2013 and 2014. Med History: Daniel age 3 had a Zplasty performed by Toronto Sick Kid's orthopaedic innovator Dr. Robert Salter. By fall Nov 1993, Daniel, 11, was again bearing weight solely on the great toe. Dr. Gordon's pre-surgery serial foot casting avoided another Z-plasty, and his ingenious 'tendon transfer' surgery, swapping out some of the contracted R tendons of the arch through a hole drilled in the ankle (my layman's understanding) for some of the elongated tendons of the L of the forefoot, completely straightened his foot, opening up Daniel's world. He has never needed another surgery. Daniel, 42 is still running. Heartfelt thanks to you Dr. Gordon!!!!
