I visited Dr. James K. Liu last year for a brain tumor. He said that because you are obese, you should have bariatric surgery before brain surgery. I underwent bariatric surgery based on his advice. A few months after the bariatric surgery, an MRI of the brain showed that the tumor had grown. I underwent brain surgery with another neurosurgeon, and the pathology result showed the tumor was cancerous. I received two months of high-dose radiation therapy followed by six months of intensive chemotherapy. I am currently losing significant weight and am vitamin deficient. My health is in serious jeopardy, which has my care team extremely concerned about the side effects of bariatric surgery. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR. LIU.

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams.
