Dr. David Montgomery, PSY

He was recommended by my lawyer as an expert in reunification counseling. He was supposed to work with broken families and bring parents and children together through conflict situations. Dr.Montgomery has strong cultural and gender stereotypes and he does not go beyond his beliefs. He showed no empathy towards a parent who has been alienated from her children, rather aided the parent who is doing the alienation by supplying with offending vocabulary. When questioned about it he justified his action as "common phrases used in such situations". He acted as though he never heard of the Parental Alienation Syndrome and had no suggestions or plan of action for how to deal with it. The visits with him were a big expense and no help to a parent who was desperate to have contact with her children. I think he figured out a niche for himself in the counseling world saying that he is an expert at reunifying children with parents across emotional distances and he is actually doing a big disservice.
