This was the most unprofessional experience I’ve had with a pediatrician. I called to request that something be amended in my daughter chart, and Dr. Cheema told me he “can’t go back in the notes.” As someone who works in a doctor’s office, I know this can be done. When I explained that, he snapped, “Since you know everything, find a new practice.” I said I would, and he responded with, “OK, we’ll deactivate your account.” That alone was rude and uncalled for—but what shocked me most is that he told me they don’t document a parent’s personal concerns unless they believe it to be the “truth.” That’s outrageous. Ignoring a parent’s input because it’s “personal” or might not be “true” is a dangerous mindset in healthcare. I’m taking my child to a new practice one that values communication, professionalism, and above all, patient safety.
