Treated my 100 y.o. Mom in Bayfront ER after a fall which caused 5 broken ribs. Made several bad decisions. Discharged her when she was in no shape to return to her home from a fall risk perspective. Prescribed meds which added to the fall risk. Despite my Mom having little short term memory and being easily disoriented, I, her medical POA, was never contacted. Didn't test her for infection. A review of her medical history would have found a history of UTI's and related falls. Two days later she had a sepsis induced heart attack. (which she amazingly has survived.)
