I took my 10yo to see Dr. Frederick in Apr '23. Explained my daughter's issues (long list) and that her pediatrician, psychiatrist, endocrinologist and eve gastroenterologist said my child desperately needed to see neuro. Dr. Frederick listened but never examined my child (no acknowledgement) and she told us to get a vagas stimulator. FFW to Oct '23- my child can barely walk, talk, leave the house and her psychiatrist wrote Dr. Frederick saying he thinks it is FND. We drove 2hrs to our visit and a resident came in, took notes and the Dr came in with her bag, still NEVER examined or looked at her patient and told us she would diagnose FND if that's all we wanted (just give it to us) but no one treats this and if we have an issue with Rady's not treating, we should "write the board." Now 2 wks later, we see a different neurologist at a diff hospital and the Dr spent an hour with us, including a 15+ min physical examination. We got an FND diagnosis and extensive genetic testing. I'm upset that Dr. Frederick never examined my child, told us very flippantly to "write the board" because Rady's doesn't treat her condition - but she didn't even examine her to know that was her condition. The new neurologist fully examined my child, explained her condition and that is is difficult to treat but put us on a pathway to success as well ordering extensive genetic testing and methods to explore my child's autism issues (Dr. Frederick said nothing). I felt disrespected and dismissed.
