I will adjust my review if my view changes but.. first impression… My husband and I now call Dr. Wax Dr. Rushy Stabby. In the first practically 60 seconds he poked my foot with one finger and then basically demanded I make an immediate choice - a cortisone/steroid shot or ? I wasn’t given another option until I ASKED about other option, and even then the option of Pt was given more as a “well, if you’re gonna be a weak lil scared thing about a needle” kinda attitude. While yes, it’s “just a lil shot” but being RUSHED into a decision is beyond innnapropriate. The last 4 doctors that have rushed me into a medical choices have all caused more harm than good!!! So, Doctor Wax. What I need you to realize is - I’m NOT scared of needles, I’m great at handling the pain, but it’s the brash behavior of the DOCTOR wielding the tools that gives me PTSD. I suspect you’re making assumption about what we scaredy-cats are on about and you’re wrong. It’s not the needle, it’s you. The level of arrogance is def there with Dr. Wax. From the moment I slightly disagreed he began interrupting me and talking over me. I mentioned my looong history of childhood trauma with poorly executed medical procedures (kinda, he barely let me speak, I TRIED to make my point clear but he wouldn’t let me get a breath before rushing into demands again) and his responds to me about that was he “understood” and then to continue rushing me, talking over me, demanding a choice now. and when I asked for a moment to think and take a breath, he got an attitude INSTANTLY and started acting like I was the problem. I ASKED twice for him to stop rushing me. He would not stop. I had to politely ask him to leave the room because he was just STARING at me with this nasty look on his face like I was ruining his day. All I was doing was assessing my choices but apparently a few moments to make a MEDICAL DECISION was not something Dr. Wax can appreciate. The rest of my treatment will be out of his hands. I got a ref for MRI (after I had to force him to answer my questions) and PT. Dr. wax will Not no nope never ever be putting sharp objects near my body though- because he “does 18472 a day” and seems to think it’s just no big deal, rush and stab! Kinda like how you’re most likely to get in a car accident within 5 miles of your home, dr wax is mostly likely to make a silly mistakes because he’s so brash and rushed. But with a shot like cortisone, he can just easily say “oh well that happens sometimes, you signed a waiver” or whatever if your tendons further rupture or you end up with nerve damage from poor placement or maybe you didn’t even need them at all cuz you never got an MRI?? I’d like to find a doctor who will legitimately tell me more than Google can also, and dr wax is unwilling. When he returned to my room after a cooong period he did not inquire about me or my questions, he just demanded an answer. He is callous about PTSD. Needle aren’t the problem - it’s doctors LIKE YOU. I also asked a nurse if he’s always like this. The reply was his appointments are always very very quick and he’s a high energy guy… that’s a nice way of putting it, and confirms my experience. The staff was great tho. Not saying dr wax is a horrible dr overall but he will never meet my needs because his attitude is dismissive and rude.
