Patient Reviews
Nov 21, 2022
Treatment Outcome I went to Dr. Rouse at the beginning of the year for what I thought was a tailors bunion. After a X-ray and his exam, it was concluded that it was inflammation due to my my gait and ambulating. According to Dr. Rouse, I was compensating by bearing more weight on my lateral part of my foot due to severe arthritis on my great toe. His solution was a shoe insert to correct my weight bearing and ambulation . As a nurse myself, I did not feel comfortable with the complete diagnosis and treatment of a shoe insert. I held off for several months and decided to have my issue evaluated with a podiatrist. He was wonderful!!! His finding were bone spurs on my anterior foot which prohibited proper flexion with my great toe. I had approx 20% flexion, which was the explanation for bearing most of my weight on my lateral foot. I also had moderate arthritis, yet still had cartilage remaining on my big toe joint. I underwent a surgical procedure to remove the spurs and clean up the joint. Now I have flexibility with my great toe. I am glad my instincts led me to a fantastic Podiatrist and led me to the CORRECT treatment for my foot.
