If you are a young, active person looking down the barrel of an ankle fusion after injury but don't want to give up your sport: go see Dr. Kadakia and make sure you know all of your options. Facing end-stage osteoarthritis in my 20s, I traveled 13 hours to see Dr. Kadakia. He reconstructed my ankle using cadaver tissue and gave me my life back after years of walking on bone spurs.My partner and I had never really seen a doctor sit down and actually talk the case over with us (let alone a surgeon), but Kadakia spent half an hour with us. He thoroughly went over the options for a complex case and built a gameplan starting from an outcome we could live with (in my case, keeping a functioning ankle joint).His team is also invested in your outcome. They respond to questions rapidly, are kinder than kind, and just generally want to see you back at your sport of choice. All this to say: Even if you have to travel-- Go. To. Kadakia.
