She was my primary care doctor (and is no longer). I have a blood disorder which makes my body collect too much iron (hereditary hemochromatosis). I left several messages both on the phone and through my patient portal saying that I needed to get the mandatory Texas form signed and sent back to the blood bank so I could continue my quarterly therapeutic phlebotomy. The admin at the blood bank faxed the form over four times, all of which were ignored.As my blood is considered “contaminated” from the iron, I can’t do a regular donation; I just need to get the extra iron out. I finally got hold of a nurse in her office who kept asking if I was under the care of a hematologist. The answer is no. I found out 13 years ago that I have this disorder WHICH IS NOT A BLOOD CANCER! Almost a year went by without any phlebotomy as I have to sign up for the ACA, find a new primary, and wait for an appointment. My ferritin level was 590 after my first set of new labs. It is supposed to be 15-150.
