On April 29, 2924 I had a right hip replacement done at Summit medical group surgery center in Florham Park.Dr. Surace was told by me prior to the procedure I had problems with the only epidural I had ever had about 30 years ago. He assured me that that was such a long time ago and epidurals had come so far that I should have no problem. Well, I did - my blood pressure dropped drastically my potassium and iron levels dropped drastically and I was transported by ambulance to Morristown Hospital - I stayed for 3 days due to the effects of the epidural. The moral of the story is listen to the patient when he or she relates that there may be a problem with getting an injection in your spine. I believe I could’ve had a local anesthesia for this procedure and not have to go through the nightmare the rest into the ER after successful right hip replacement.
