Dr. O’Brien told us that our baby had Fetal Growth Restriction. When I questioned the possibility of the due date being off, she was dismissive of my questions and insisted that the due date was correct and our baby was growth restricted. She recommended that we meet with a genetic counselor and have an amniocentesis done. Weeks of extreme stress and anxiety later, we returned for a follow up scan and another doctor told us that our baby was not growth restricted and the due date was simply off by a week, which impacted the measurement percentiles. Thank goodness for that doctor because we ended up having a perfectly healthy 8 pound baby. Had we listened to Dr. O’Brien’s advice, we would have undergone an invasive procedure for absolutely no reason. I missed several days of work driving into Boston for appointments due to her misdiagnosis and lost many nights of sleep worrying about my baby. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this doctor.
