Dr. Ben Chang, MD

I recently received general anesthesia from Dr. Chang. I mentioned nausea before the OR, and he only said, “I’ll give you something,” without telling me the medication. While receiving dexamethasone (which I had to ask about as he was pushing it), I experienced a burning sensation in my groin—a known side effect if pushed too quickly. When I reported it, he said, “It shouldn’t happen that fast,” which felt dismissive. Later, while still nauseous and anxious, he gave me another medication to calm me, and I wasn’t told what it was. As an RN, I expect to be informed about all medicines. The lack of communication felt unprofessional and disregarded my right as a patient to know what I’m receiving. Despite the lack of communication, he seemingly does his job well and presents with a good bedside manner. I just would have liked more explanation.
