Dr. Benjamin Elder is a high profile, exceptionally brilliant and knowledgeable surgeon. He thinks of every little thing and covers all ground for the safety of his patients. I am a transfer patient, and , thus, have had very little office time with him. The one meeting I had I did not ask specific questions about the surgery, though he invited questions!!. At my hesitation, Dr. Elder volunteered information that was the most important for me to have. He is kind, observant and spontaneously thoughtful. Before meeting him, I had educated myself by reading his scholarly articles and his collaborations with others. Afterwards, I viewed his elaborate ppt lectures accessible on youtube. On the basis of this research, I felt like I know him and can trust him fully. That feeling sustained me through the procedure and 3 weeks of post-op self care. My 6 week X-rays, I hope, are consistent with the meticulous TLIF surgery Dr. Elder performed recently.
