I am writing to express my profound concern regarding the recent tonsillectomy performed on my son, without my informed consent. My ex-husband and I had previously consulted Dr. Erhardt regarding our son's inflamed throat. While the doctor initially downplayed the significance of the inflammation, dismissing my concerns about its role as the body's first line of defense against infection as supported by reputable sources lIke the Mayo Clinic he subsequently proceeded with a tonsillectomy against my explicit wishes.The situation is further complicated by several troubling aspects. Firstly, despite the requirement for joint parental consent for medical procedures involving minors, the surgery proceeded without my authorization. The medical record inexplicably notes that a mother gave permission, but I am uncertain who this refers to and have not authorized the procedure. Secondly, the financial aspects.
