I went in with a lot of anxiety and a history of terrible experiences. Dr. Mapa was patient and caring and helped me to discover that what my old doctor had been telling me--that BC pills are the only option for perimenopause-- was just plain incorrect. He did not make me disrobe or even touch me at my consultation. He also said that he would never insist that I do a pelvic exam if I did not feel comfortable, and he will never refuse to prescribe medication on the grounds that I refused an exam. He said that I would be able to do a self-collection HPV test when I come due, since those just got FDA and ACOG approval in 2025. I asked and he said he offers patients pain management for procedures if they need it, which put me at ease. He is clearly up to date on current guidelines and best practices and has the bedside manner to match. I felt supported, listened to and taken seriously, which is a rarity in a medical setting. I am SO GLAD I found him.
