I've recently learned that this is a recent graduate and let me tell you there's a lot to learn about treating the whole patient. Using the right words, acting and speaking with urgency especially when it concerns an still growing and developing brain. While there may have been a concussion diagnosis I was not told this. There were no referrals or any sense of urgency to follow up or watch my child closely. Essentially we were told he was fine, needed just a little brain rest and would be fine in a few days. How wrong that was. Because no sense of urgency was created and he was pronounced fine the male teen took a dramatic downward slide in mental wellness. I'm in shock that we weren't even referred to anyone as an extra line of care for the concussion such as Seattle Children's Concussion clinic. If I hadn't protested a gray hair nurse just discharging us we would have never even heard from Dr Kennedy again at that ER visit. When it's a brain it's urgent. A lot still to learn.
