Patient Reviews
Dec 02, 2023
I had been waiting for cervical spine surgery for over 2 yrs, with my condition getting worse. UF neurosurgeon would not do surgery due to other health conditions, main being uncontrolled diabetes. My condition was getting worse with pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in arms and hands. I was recommended to see Dr. Rothschild. He scheduled me within 1 week for surgery. My condition worse than expected. I am just over 1 week post-op. Cervical spinal fusion C3-C7. He is a wonderful, caring, excellent, expert surgeon. His staff, as well, are all caring, professional, and kind. They answer all questions and explained the procedure from beginning to end. Pre-op and post-op at the hospital were awesome. All of the nurses and staff were amazing.... except for 1 RN..name of Janice!!!! I'm sorry, but I hope she never has to endure pain like this after a major spinal surgery. She not only ignored my numerous calling for pain medication, which was overdue, but then finally came at 9:30, with my scheduled 9:00 extended release morphine tablet, but REFUSED to give me my 10mg oxycodone (which was by now over 2 hrs overdue) stating.."I'm not giving you both at the same time!" I tried to explain to her that I needed the fast acting pain medication now due to how bad the pain was and that the morphine was going to take too long. They were both ordered and it did not say not to give together. (Oh, I am a RN for the past 30 yrs, PACU, MED -SURG, CCU, ICU, IMC, ) after trying to explain this to her and I have been taking oxycodone 10mg. 4x a day for many yrs for chronic pain!!! and arguing with her, in tears at this point!!!, she was not going to help me. I asked her to call the Dr. She was horrible!!!! Basically...take this morphine or nothing! When I asked her when she got MD after her name to be able to decide what and when I get ..she just quit talking to me and walked out!!!! I have never, nor would ever, treat anyone this bad!!!! So except for her, everyone was wonderful. I am still recovering and so far so good! Thank you to this awesome DR and staff!
