1st and only visit: Dr. Allan laughed at my questions. TERRIBLE BEDSIDE MANNER! He had access to my medication list and chose to prescribe a beta-blocker for heart palpitations and chest pain knowing I was taking thyroid meds. He prescribed the lowest dose due to my low bp, then told his assistant a day or so later to contact me via chart to reduce it further due to my low heart rate. I never took them because he failed to check my TSH levels first! I didn't look at MyChart for months, only to discover the message from his staff when it would've been too late. Had I started taking the original dose, I could've had an adverse reaction. Had he been thorough, he would've discovered that my TSH was extremely low, which was causing my symptoms. I lowered my thyroid meds with a different doctor and did a 3-week food detox. My symptoms went away and have not returned. I DID NOT NEED A BETA-BLOCKER!! Beware of any doctor that prescribes meds without doing lab work first!
