I saw Dr. Pillai for post concussive vison issues. I had blurry vision to start. As I saw her I got a few more concussions, leading to increasingly blurry vision, unfocused eyes, double vision, floaters, light sensitivity, streaking lights, and dimness. The only useful thing she did is refer me to vision pt, which helped minimally. Other then that, every visit without fail, she said my eyes look fine and she would recommend blue light glasses and transition lenses. I would tell her I had a pair of both individually, but she would insist that I need to get them integrated into my regular glasses lenses. I told her insurance doesn't cover that and I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket. She kept insisting that I should get them. That was her only suggestion, multiple visits throughout the course of a year, her only suggestion. My thing is, you are a neuro-ophthalmologists right? If my eyes look fine shouldn't you be treating the neurological causes, aka the concussions, that are causing the issues? There was not a single discussion or suggestion of the neurological component of my issue, or what could be done to help. After a year of seeing me, she told me my vision issues are due to my migraines and that she couldn't help me. I wasted a year of my life going to a doctor that was absolutely useless. Would not recommend her or the rusk concussion center in general, I've only had negative experiences.
