Dr. Cory Duffek, MD

I went to Surfside for my mammogram and ultrasound for a palpable mass that I found in my breast. The mammogram showed the tumor. The ultrasound tech in training could not find the correlating tumor on ultrasound. Dr. Duffek, the radiologist on site, refused to come and examine me himself even though the tech could not locate the tumor on ultrasound. He dismissed the issue and had the tech deliver the message that it’s a benign mass, nothing to worry and to follow up in 6 months if it was still there. He did not even speak to me himself. As a registered nurse of 11 years, i know it is not proper for a tech to give test results to a patient. This doctor did not even take the time to speak with me. THANK GOD, i pursued the issue further despite his “professional” opinion to ignore it and follow up in 6 mo. Within 2 months, I was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma-breast cancer that he missed.
