The physician who orders a test is responsible for ensuring that the results are reviewed and communicated to the patient. I have an infected leg ulcer and Dr. Cynthia Rivera has refused to give me the results of the CT scan she ordered over 3 months ago (either through my last doctor's visit or via email). All my requests have been ignored despite that all my doctor's referrals were approved! Yes, my PCP formally recommended I see the specialist and my health insurance plan officially authorized that care. But, as per a communication I received from the insurance company, for some reason, they decided not to pay her for the last visit. Insurance denials should not lead to retaliation against patients. This is a violation of the ethical principles underlying the "do no harm" concept.
