After being on a wait list for nearly a year, I had an extremely disappointing and invalidating experience with Dr. Knight as the main physician coordinating my evaluation at the Mayo Jacksonville EDS Clinic. My experience was rife with misinformation and bungled appointments. They promise a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan, but the EDS diagnostic evaluation felt rushed and skipped criteria, tests and referrals for other consultations were not explained, nor was there follow-up after test results were automatically sent to me. Accommodations I needed weren’t communicated to the relevant parties. They seem to focus more on research and diagnosis but struggle to appreciate the inherent nuance in their own patient population. There’s little to no emphasis on providing patients with recommendations or treatment options specific to your unique situation. At best, seeing him provided a diagnosis and some limited context. Mayo needs to seriously revamp and invest more in the EDS Clinic and hold staff accountable for providing accurate information in a timely manner to patients and families because it matters.
