Patient Reviews
Mar 01, 2022
I was very sick for three years. What was known was I had Anemia of Chronic Disease. What every doctor I saw had problems with was what was the disease. I saw all the best specialists in the area (rheumatologists, hematologists, neurologists, infectious disease doctors, immunologists, etc). I spent two weeks at the Mayo Clinic in MN...they were clueless, and rude. I went down to UVA MS Dept..very bad experience. The Director of the Clinic said my symptoms didn’t look anything like MS...i just had a headache. I almost gave up. But I said I’ll try one more person...I saw Dr. Daniel Harrison when he was working at Johns Hopkins. He told me, “I don’t think you have MS, but your symptoms mimic MS.” There are a couple of diseases that do this. He did some blood work, and called me a couple of days later. He told me I definitely had Pernicious Anemia. He saved my life. He is one in a million. PA is not an old person’s disease, average age at diagnosis is 45. I had normal B12 level.
