Dr Spallin attended the birth of my son in 2023. I am grateful that she encouraged me in my goal to go unmedicated and I'm grateful that she didn't send me to c-section when I'm sure many other doctors would have due to "failure to progress". However, there were other things that I feel I must share with any potential clients of hers. First, she offered an episiotomy which fortunately I knew to decline because episiotomies cause more severe tearing, harder recovery, and greater chances of tearing in subsequent deliveries. Second, after my placenta was delivered she, without saying anything to me, reached her hand inside of my uterus to scoop clots out. It was horrifically painful and not having any communication about it made it that much worse. Third, upon repairing my second degree tear she said "I want to make sure it's tight enough"... when I had my original provider later check how my stitches were healing my provider said it appears I was given a husband stitch. Additionally, one of the sutures halfway in the tear had puckered and wasn't healing right. In the end I had to have a corrective surgery.
