I had been to this doctor several times for my child. I expressed concern my child had a life threatening syndrome impacting my child’s heart. Dr. Malpass said he had seen many children with LDS and Marfans, not worry myself, and that this is not it. He could just tell. He told us we could see the indelible sign of the cross on his heart, became religious in his discussion, and sent us on our way. Later when I had it confirmed my child had this genetic concern, he said it was unnecessary to come in, that he had no concerns. MUSC was so concerned they requested we consider John’s Hopkins. The pediatric cardiologist at MUSC referred us to the aortic genetic specialist and we were seen right away.
