The birth of my last child left me feeling very uncomfortable in my own skin so I decide it was time for me to schedule a consultation with a surgeon. I did a lot of research to find one and decided to go with Dr. Pan from Esana Plastic Surgery Center. Our initial meeting was through a virtual consultation, and then a month or so after, I met with her at her Guilford office. Her and I discussed the option of liposuction and tummy tuck. Since my biggest concern was my “mommy pouch” I decided to go with liposuction of the abdomen and flank area. Dr. Pan and I spoke in detail on what I should expect as far as results. She advised me that lipo would be a great and less invasive option and I would be very happy with my results. I was so excited! Fast forward to the day of surgery, everything went great, and I came out of surgery feeling sore and exhausted. Once I got home I noticed that I had absolutely no bruising of any kind just internal soreness and a little swelling. After following my post-op instructions about two weeks in I notice that there were no noticeable changes to the appearance of my stomach. My mommy pouch is still there and the size of my waist has not changed at all. At my one-month post-op I saw Dr. Pan and explained my concerns, and to my surprise, she seemed very cold and unbothered with my concerns. She basically told me that I needed to lose weight and that was the reason why my mommy pouch was still there. Her unwillingness to listen to my concerns and try to create a solutions was very disappointing. She completely dismissed my feelings and basically fat shamed me. She had her nurse weigh me before I left the office and told me that I should be more careful with my calorie intake and what I was eating. I am now almost 7 weeks post-op and at this point, I wish I had went with another surgeon. Ladies, please do as much research as possible before choosing a surgeon. We are a dime a dozen to most of them and once they collect their fee it almost seems like we become a bother to them. I have an upcoming post-op in a few weeks I will update my progress.
