I am a cancer patient who has annual colonoscopy and biannual endoscopy to hunt cancer. The medical world (ie John Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic) all report doing these two procedures at the same time is best for patient outcome, because then we do not face anesthesia twice, get billed twice, miss twice as much work, etc... BUT Dr Patel's team refused to book me for these two procedures simultaneously. When I asked how doing two procedures separately serves the patient, they rudely and repeatedly told me 'clinic policy.' (This is very questionable, very money driven.) With a push I got them to agree to do the two procedures at the same session, but the rudeness of Dr Patel's nurse and the institution as a whole created a loss of faith in this provider. I will get care else where.
