How likely are you to recommend Dr. Sidle?
I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Sidle. I visited him for a septoplasty with minor cosmetic adjustments – a slight bump reduction and tip refinement. What should have been a routine procedure quickly turned into a nightmare. After surgery, I developed a severe infection that Dr. Sidle mishandled from the start. He ignored clear signs of trouble, delayed treatment, and dismissed my concerns, which ultimately resulted in lasting damage. When the situation became undeniable, he offered no real assistance, only deflection and gaslighting. What was supposed to improve my breathing and appearance left me disfigured and deeply traumatized. In my experience, Dr. Sidle is negligent, unaccountable, and dangerously incompetent. Do not trust him with your health or appearance.
I went in for a consultation that was supposed to be free and I was billed $585.00 a whole 4 months later for my 10 minute consultation. I also did not choose him to do my surgery because I felt like something was just off about him after meeting with him.
Dr. Sidle is not someone I would recommend. His integrity & honor are to be questioned. Why? I will explain. I am Veteran. I served as well as I could & was honorably discharged for injuries. My nose had been broken twice, my badly compromised septum interfered with breathing, sleeping, well being etc. The surgeon at the Hines VA did a poor job of correcting the issues. The surgery was invasive, required cartilage relocation, straightening out the septum & inserting a spreader graft. When the job was done my nose was not straight. The spreader graft clicked in my nose, still does, which is uncomfortable, my left nostril gets more stuffy & congested than my right for no apparent reason & my breathing still isn't as good as it might be. The right area on the bridge of my nose has some semi jagged bone irregularities beneath the skin. All of this should have been corrected to a much better degree. So after a year & half of seeing & feeling the inadequacy of my nose I started digging for a "good" surgeon. I came upon a kind spirited Asian doctor who works in the same building/clinic area as Dr. Sidle. He thought Dr. Sidle might be a good surgeon to discuss my concerns & possible surgical corrections with. I appreciated the Asian doctors input. He was wrong! My first visit to Dr. Sidle, which the VA paid his astronomical fee for, seemed reasonable. He said he could make some improvements, perhaps improve the breathing, definitely make the nose straighter, maybe improve the spreader graft problem & generally do a better job. I told him about my displeasure with the Hines VA doctor. He apparently knew a good deal about her because she had done her training at Northwestern. His tone was a bit of a red flag. As a patient, based on my experience, I am allowed to be pleased or displeased with anyone I have encountered in my life. I was displeased with the quality of the VA female surgeons work on my nose. Dr. Sidle, during my first visit, was a bit disgruntled by what I stated about the previous surgeons inadequate procedures on my nose. But you know what? Who cares! I was looking for a competent surgeon who would do a better job. He clearly stated, during this intial visit, that he would he do the surgery & improve on what was done. The appointment was made for the surgery. Unfortunately my mother's fatal cancerous condition, in New York, forced me to cancel the surgery which ended up being put off nearly indefinitely. Fast forward to Friday, October 1,2021 & a new appointment that had been made with Dr.Sidle months earlier. I had been feeling unwell emotionally. I had gotten an injection treatment for PTSD days before which has affected me. I went to the appointment in the afternoon. I signed with a very unhappy female associate seated in one of the cubicles. I was brought into one of the medical rooms by heavyset woman. I waited for Dr.Sidle's long time associate, Erin, to come out. She has always come across as kind & receptive. I appreciated that. She came in, asked me a variety of questions & took new digital images of my nose from various angles. We went back to the original medical room. Erin eventually left & Dr Sidle came in with a younger Asian fellow who was studying and learning. I greeted them warmly. They did the knuckle bump thing. Dr.Sidle made small talk about my hair & attempted an aire of pleasantness which actually read as a bit superficial & scripted. We re-visited the dialogues we had had about the previous surgery. His tune started changing & his defensive bravado started rearing it's head. After telling me previously he could improve on the various inadequacies of the previous procedures, he now started saying he couldn't, it isn't worth it, & started giving me the run around. He began to defend the previous VA surgeon, after telling me he could have done a better job, and started criticizing my present state of energy in the room. I am allowed to feel feelings, be in a deficit & I explained that to him. He went on & on about how a patient is supposed to have a good rapport with the surgeon & all of this other palaver. The truth is a surgeon just needs to simply do the best job possible and a "rapport" does not need to exist at all. I'd rather have an excellent surgeon that says little compared to an overly friendly, mediocre, surgeon who blabs away. Surgeons, especially plastic surgeons, are very well paid! Then he started making excuses about how he probably would not do the surgery for his own brother. I responded by saying probably is not an answer to which he quickly retorted, "I am not going to do it!". I said fine, I will find someone else that might actually do a better, more thorough job. I left. Find the best care you can!
