First impressions of Dr. Bonatz revealed a man who hadn't shaved in a few days. Call me old fashioned, but I expect a certain level of professionalism from professionals, and his appearance was rather disheveled. Visiting for Dupuytrene's, I'm in the very early stages where I have full use of my hand and the bend in the ring finger is only about 10%. Much research shows this is a prime case of being able to use an injectable enzyme to treat the issue. Dr. Bonatz immediately pushed for surgery, dismissing the enzyme treatment as a company using TV advertising to sell their wares. Pushing for a surgical procedure before exhausting other avenues is a cardinal sin amongst doctors. I've no doubt Dr. Bonatz knows his field, but pushing for a surgery which would result in heavy scarring and larger risks when other options should be executed first just screams questionable motives or judgement. There's more money in a surgery than there is a shot. Higher risk as well.Hard pass.
