I have multiple specialists working on diagnosing me with potentially more than one rare systemic disorder, two of which are known for causing tachycardia. Dr. Avelar is well aware of this, but still went straight to "anxiety" as an explanation for my tachycardia and other cardiovascular symptoms. He did not even ask what causes my symptoms or what I am doing when they occur. If you do not have an easily recognizable heart problem he is dismissive of your symptoms. He says he will only look at the heart and nothing else. When I had a severe asthma attack during my first stress test, he told me "you have exercise induced asthma" but never referred me to pulmonary. It turned out that I also have COPD from having my asthma go untreated for so long He expresses no real curiousity for my family history of heart problems, my own medical history or my current symptoms. His staff persistently assumes that I am a cancer patient, and I believe those are the only cases he is interested in.
