I was in a mess when I saw him. I fractured my hip and femur in multiple places while on vacation in Mexico. The first surgery in Mexico was a failure. In the second surgery, they fractured my lower femur, and didn't discover it, and I had other life threatening complications. When I finally got back to the US, other orthos refused to see me, apparently not wanting to take the liability.Dr. Magnussen was very prepared for our first appointment. It was obvious he had already reviewed my X-rays and CTs. He took the time to explain to me why I still was not healing, and was very straight-forward when telling me I was heading for catastrophic failure. I loved it when he said 'Look, you've been through a lot. We need to give you a no(guess) fix so nobody ever needs to be in your hip again.'Today is 9 weeks after that surgery. I was able to take my first steps without a crutch or cane. I'm FINALLY on the road to recovery 5 months after my injury. Nobody else could do it, but he did.
