Without ever laying eyes on him the three days after my father had brain surgery, Dr. Ermolenko arrives late in the afternoon to tell me that my father has to leave. He would, however, do me the courtesy of waiting until the next day to send him home so I could get home healthcare, full-time sitters and all the medical equipment I would need to take him home. No one up to that point had ever said leaving was imminent. When I asked why my dad’s neurosurgeon was not there and what did he think about sending him home, Dr. Ermolenko became pompous and rude and said those doctors have no authority in this hospital. Not only will I not recommend Dr. Ermolenko, I also hesitate to recommend Sacred Heart Hospital. Thank goodness for the nurses on the floor and inpatient hospice. They were kind enough to take him to give me time to get a situation set up at home. He ended up passing away in the evening of the day I was supposed to take him home.
