I had an episode a few months ago where something happened to my vision. I first saw an optometrist, then an ophthalmologist, both said my eyes were fine but the ophthalmologist, after learning my history of AFIB, suspected I had a stoke and told me to start taking my blood thinner again, he also sent me to Dr. Kwitko, a neuro ophthalmologist, who confirmed the suspicion and sent me in for tests. It turns out I did have a stroke which was now affecting my vision. When I went to see Dr. Kwitko for the follow-up, the FIRST thing he said to me when he walked into the room was 'well, it looks like we saved your life', that's it. He did not ask me how I was doing or offer any help, or advice on what might happen with my vision moving forward. When he was then quickly ready to send me on my way, I had to ask him if anything could be done about my vision and his only answer was 'oh that's a glasses thing' See him if you want, just be aware the appointment is more for him than you.
