I was thinking about Dr. Campbell recently because he saved my life in 1984, almost 40 years ago. It's a long story, but I had an accident and spent several months at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati (where the staff were wonderful!). I had to have part of right lung removed and Dr. Campbell was my pulmonologist. I have no doubt whatsoever that Dr. Campbell, along with other staff at the hospital, saved my life. In fact, my prognosis was so poor that my father was told by the surgeon that I had such extensive damage to my lungs that my chances at survival was 25%.Before, during and after my surgery, Dr. Campbell attended to my medical needs with compassion. His kindness, competency and devotion were incredible. So incredible that almost 40 years later I still think about this man. How if it were not for he and the grace of God, I would never have met my wife of 37 years, had three now grown children and several beautiful grandchildren.
