In summary, I think their patient interactions could be handled with more compassion. I personally didn’t feel listened to or trusted in the various perio appointments I had here. For instance, one appointment the doctor and assistant traded glances with each other and rolled eyes/snickered at me while I was talking about my dental health. Another time, they asked me several times over if I was a smoker or missed dental cleanings— implying they didn’t trust my answers, with the bonus of adding a layer of shame to my gum treatment experience. I ended up switching to a new periodontist, which was the right choice for me. I don’t expect royal treatment, but it is a positive change to not feel nervous before each appointment.
