I saw Dr. Backe about knee replacement due to osteoarthritis. I have a high bmi and thought I had exhausted all of my options. Unfortunately due to my bmi I don't qualify for replacement. Dr. Backe was very motivating about me losing weight. He offered suggestions about aquatherapy since I have too much pain when walking. He even suggested just walking in the water. He also offered an ablation of the nerves in my knee. He looked at my leg and knew immediately that a brace would not fit due to my disproportionate thigh and shin. (I was previously provided a brace that didn't stay on for the exact reason Dr. Backe identified). I left the office very motivated to lose weight and find a pool to use for exercise. His office called the next day requesting a follow up appointment in 3 months. I'm assuming this is to see if the ablation has helped with my pain or follow up on my weight loss. I was extremely pleased with the appointment and highly recommend Dr. Backe.
