As a retired physical therapist who knows what a good physical examination is, Dr. Mckay did not do any visual or physical examination on me. He took an xray and said you need a total shoulder replacement. I had a previous full thickness tear of my rotator cuff with a full surgical repair. I wanted to know if I had re torn it, have a tendinitis, impingment, bursitis etc. No strength testing, no Range of motion, no specialty physical tests like drop arm test, impingement testing, no palpation, etc. He didn't want to order an MRI -because it doesn't matter if your rotator cuff is re torn is what he said-it doesn't matter??? He pushed the surgery. I had to ask for a cortisone shot. Aren't doctors, who are especially in the orthopedic-musculoskeletal business suppose to exam you??? He just wants to operate not manage the patients symptoms. I knew I had bad arthritis but wanted to know more about any other problems in my shoulder.
