Dr Schwender performed my back surgery at L4, S5 in 2022. When I was in recovery, I could not feel my right foot. He did additional surgery and stated I had developed a hematoma. 3 years later and I am still dealing with flop foot. Post appointments were only done at my request. Never did he or his staff reach out for follow up. Clearly this was an error made during surgery. He stated this has only happened 3 times in his career and was neglectful in my post op care. Telling me to walk as much as I could and there was a good chance I would recover. I did not. BEWARE…consult other surgeons.
