I saw him in the ER. It seemed to be a slow day, not many people in the waiting room. I told the nurses that I seem to have a blood clot and that I need an ultrasound, and they seemed to agree. After about an hour, I was seen by a resident doctor, and I showed her my painful, swollen, hard vein and told her I needed an ultrasound. I had to wait another 2 hours before her attending, Dr. Maletich came in. He jumped to blame my liver autoimmune disease and write me off. He was not knowledgeable about the disease, and he assumed I wasn’t. He had a lazy, illogical approach and encouraged me to go home with no testing. I pushed for an ultrasound, and he said he would order one. I figured one had already been ordered at this point, and I believe he is the reason one wasn’t. It felt like I was neither important nor exciting to him because I could walk and talk and wasn’t bleeding out. After I finally got the ultrasound after another 2 hours, he had already pawned me off to a different doctor.
