We took our son to the ER after he woke up in severe knee pain, which he's been experiencing for nearly a year. Over the past few days, the pain worsened, leaving him unable to sleep, eat, or play. We weren't seeking a diagnosis, just relief for his pain. Unfortunately, neither the resident nor Dr. Lee seemed concerned about his limited food intake (only two granola bars in four days), and our request for pain management was dismissed. The ER's role is to rule out serious conditions, but we were met with frustration when we advocated for our child's comfort. Dr. Lee left the room abruptly after we decided to wait for X-rays. We were told Orthopedics might see us, but when we followed up, they downplayed the severity of the issue. If an adult were in this much pain, would we simply tell them to "deal with it"? Our experience left us feeling unheard and dismissed, and we’re deeply disappointed with the lack of care.
