After getting opinions from 2 top hospitals for my debilitating back pain, they both recommended lumbar fusion. Not wanting to go that route, I thought that by some miracle my pain would go away on its own. I suffered for years with back pain after working in a mental institution for 15 years and then healthcare for 23+ years(to current day). But, it didn't go away, it got worse! I ended up in the ER 2 days after my 53rd birthday in intractable pain. I was afraid to laugh, afraid to cough, afraid to move at all! After 3 days of pain meds, I said no more, because it did nothing. Then it was onto steroids and anti inflammatory meds..still no relief. Then along came Dr Oppenheim. On day 6, he did a microdiscectomy. On Day 7 I went home. I am 3.5 weeks post-op. MY PAIN IS GONE and only a little achiness remains..W/NO PAIN MEDS. It's only been 3.5 wks! I can't thank this man enough!! ?X's a thousand!!! So personable and an awesome bedside manner! Awesome, awesome, awesome doctor!!!

There are no words to express my gratitude for Dr. Oppenheim. He is an amazing surgeon and human being. I was in unbearable pain, and had to undergo an emergency lumbar discectomy. The care and compassion I received from Dr Oppenheim was exceptional. Dr Oppenheim thoroughly explained the procedure prior to surgery, and addressed all of my questions and concerns. The surgery went better then I expected, and I was able to go on my cruise 10 days later. A few months have passed since the surgery, and I have never felt better. I am forever grateful to Dr. Oppenheim, he is a truly phenomenal neurosurgeon, and I highly recommend him!!
