After visiting the NYP sleep center, it was determined by my primary care physician that I had Narcolepsy or something very close to it. after a lifetime of being diagnosed with depression and finding no relief from any antidepressants, this was the first diagnoses that actually made sense to me. After waiting six months for an appointment with Dr. Weingarten, he told me that since I didn't check all the boxes for a narcolepsy diagnosis (I checked all but one), that he was sorry, but that there was nothing he could do for me. I found out later from another patient that he has very little if any experience with narcolepsy. Fine, but he could have told me that, and recommended some next steps to deal with my debilitating sleep disorder. Instead, he just sent me on my way with an insincere sounding apology.
