I think Dr. Hackney and his staff need to post this statement from the AMA Code of medical ethics somewhere in their office: “Patients should be able to be confident that they will receive the results of clinical tests in a timely fashion. Physicians have a corresponding obligation to be considerate of patient concerns and anxieties and ensure that patients receive test results within a reasonable time frame. In the past four months that we have been seeing Dr. Hackney, it has become abundantly clear that both he and his office staff lack any kind of patient empathy, compassion, or care. There is ZERO communication directly with the office. You cannot get in touch with anyone there, and they NEVER return phone calls. You can only speak to the main operators for the larger practice. They don’t follow up on things like ordering MRI’s unless you call them repeatedly, or scheduling biopsies, again, unless you call them repeatedly. Trying to get test results is nearly impossible, even with a potential cancer diagnosis, even though the law states they are obligated to release the results to you. They somehow feel that waiting for an appointment over a MONTH after a biopsy to get the results is satisfactory (even though the doctor clearly stated results would take maybe 7 to 10 days). Dr. Hackney may well be a good doctor – and if that is all you care about, this review may not be relevant for you. But if bedside manner, a compassionate office staff, or timely communication is important to you, stay far away from this office.

My dad loves Dr Hackney. He did a cystoscopy on my dad and found bladder cancer. He sent us to a great oncologist. Dr Hackney showed care and concern towards my dad. I highly recommend him!
