Do NOT bring your children to this practice! I brought my 12-year-old daughter for a follow-up to treat a wound on her scalp that had not healed properly (from a previous mole removal). The NP saw that the scab was inflamed and asked Dr. Burgy to take a look. Dr. Burgy proceeded to use a wooden stick to remove the scalp without any numbing agent. My daughter was clearly in pain. At that point, my daughter had a raw, open, painful wound on her scalp. Dr. Burgy decided to cauterize the wound with silver nitrate without any numbing agent or explaining what she was about to do. We have had this procedure done multiple times at other practices and they have ALWAYS used lidocaine injections to numb the area before doing a procedure of this nature. When my daughter was crying in pain, shaking and asking her to stop, she displayed no emotion or empathy. She seemed to display no regard for my daughter. I have filed a complaint with the SC Dept. of Labor Licensing for an investigation.
