I was diagnosed with ascending aortic aneurysm and bicuspid aortic aneurysm which would require open heart surgery. My cardiologist recommended I consult with the surgery department and that I make an appointment to see Dr. Chikwe. During our initial consultation with her and her Nurse Practitioner, Vivian Burkhart. Dr. Chikwe took her time and explained to me and my partner what would happen during the procedure and after. We never felt rushed during our visit and she answered all our questions and never once felt dismissed. She recommended I not wait more than six months and she performed my surgery on May 18, 2023. I am now 4 months post-surgery and feeling great. I had an uneventful surgery with no complications. I was in the hospital for 4 days and discharged on day 5 and only needed Extra Strength Asprin for the first few weeks for pain/discomfort. Dr. Chikwe is an outstanding surgeon and an incredibly nice person. She has a calm, confident and soothing manner.
