I scheduled an appointment with Dr. John Brophy at Semmes Murphey - Southaven after being seen at Orthosouth Bartlett where I had an MRI done. The MRI costed me $400 to have done - this will be important later. I have several bulging discs, deterioration of a few of my lower vertebrae, and I have very occasional nerve pain due to this that has impacted my quality of life. I am in my mid 30s and work a physically demanding job.My primary orthopedic Dr approved a surgery but advised that it would not improve my back pain. I wanted to get a second opinion and someone referred me to Dr. Brophy since he is a neurological surgeon. I made the appointment and Dr. Brophy was very apathetic to my situation. He recommended that I don’t do any strenuous activity and to just “walk” or “swim” as a form of physical exercise. He then condescendingly stated, “I’m in my 60’s and my back is fine. Sorry. Yours is just genetic.” He recommended drugs that I told him I had adverse reactions to and he offer
