After decades of intense activity I became incapacitated with worn cartilage and an arthritic hip. Unfortunately, my only option was a total hip replacement. Eight months ago it was difficult to get out of a chair and today I’m back 100% and able to follow my passion for skiing, running, hiking, biking, and golf. I attribute my successful recovery to Dr. John Henry at Peachtree Orthopedics. His expertise in hip replacement, his professionalism, his attentiveness, and his attention to detail all played a part. His thorough explanation of my condition, surgery, and recovery were informative and concise. Most reassuring was his hands on approach and accessibility through the entire timeline of procedures. Pre-operation he left nothing that could compromise a full recovery by ordering all radiology images and lab. He scrutinized all tests and insisted that any issues be corrected first. The day after surgery was a “Saturday morning” and he appeared in my hospital room at 5am. He was there to talk to my wife about how to help me at home and to apply a special waterproof bandage on the incision. He personally did these things even though this large Atlanta hospital has endless staff to do it for him. Who is this conscientious anymore, especially someone with his credentials and more than 25 years experience? In a word, nobody. His interest in my condition never diminished. He personally removed all incision staples after two weeks and reviewed additional x-rays during follow up visits at one, three, and six months. He never stopped working on my recovery and was always there if I had concerns or questions. Time marches on and mobility is crucial for a quality life. I assure you that John Henry is your guy if you find yourself in need of a hip replacement. I think about how lucky I am to have found this dedicated surgeon when I’m finishing up a 14 mile hike in the North Carolina mountains or 18 holes of golf. On a 1-10 I would rate him a 20.
