Patient Reviews
Jun 11, 2024
I recently had a very disappointing experience with Dr. John Farbach at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. I was admitted with severe sciatica, which had progressed to the point where I couldn't urinate and needed a catheter. Despite the severity of my condition, Dr. Farbach did not review my MRI with me personally. Instead, he sent another doctor who initially indicated that surgery was unnecessary.Shockingly, I did not see Dr. Farbach until I had already been in the hospital for two days, enduring excruciating pain. When he finally did come in, it was only to discuss the necessity of surgery. Throughout the interaction, I felt a complete lack of compassion or empathy from him.Post-surgery, I was dismayed to find that my severe sciatic pain persisted. Reflecting on my previous surgery in 2011, I recalled how my former surgeon had been thorough, compassionate, and confident in my recovery. That surgeon personally went over my MRIs with me and reassured me immediately after the surgery. In stark contrast, Dr. Farbach did not visit me post-surgery.Adding to the frustration, when my father sought to speak with Dr. Farbach, he only received a call from a physician's assistant, not the doctor himself. This lack of direct communication and care has left me feeling very upset and concerned about my ongoing condition.I had been previously advised by another spine specialist of the necessity of surgery, highlighting the seriousness of my condition. Given my experience, I regret choosing Dr. Farbach for this critical procedure and would not recommend him to others. The lack of personal attention and follow-up has been deeply unsettling, and I fear I may require additional surgery due to the unresolved pain.
