On my husband’s initial visit with Dr Whitecar, we were pleased. He seemed very eager to help and was ready to answer any questions we had. After testing and a liver biopsy he advised my husband had what appeared to be lung primary and spread to the liver. We were waiting on further tests and results and never discussed a treatment but sent him for a portacath. We were assured there is plan for a treatment or the port would not be getting put in. Another week passes another follow-up and another setback. Need to go for fluids 3 days in a row and and meds to lower calcium levels. Another follow-up scheduled and still no treatment discussed. By the 2nd day to receive fluids, my husband couldn’t even stand and needed help just to stand and use the restroom. He ended up blacking out and fell and busted his head. We go to Baptist Medical ER. They do CT of head, glue his cut and send us home. While there, the ER doctor tells me he’s not looking good for any kind of treatment. I call Dr Whitecar and spoke to nurse in regards to what I was told and she said to talk the doctor on Monday during follow-up. This was Wednesday barely. However, she did advise we talk about considering home health or hospice ???? we end up at UMMC Jackson, MS to be told it had spread to adrenal gland, kidney and bone. We were so lost and confused. At the point, our world crumbled down around us. We are headed to Austin to be with his family while hospice keeps him comfortable, but in the meantime, hoping to get a second opinion at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. They’ve been calling bc he didn’t show up for that follow-up on Monday and I haven’t answered. I have nothing good to say, so I guess it’s best I don’t answer. I certainly would not recommend this doctor. Oh…and when you try to talk it ask questions, he cuts you off.
